On the management side, we have three qualified holders of either Management Certificate of Professional Competence and/or full Institute memberships at full corporate level etc., with another three presently working on the course. We have our own in-house IT specialist, and our man in charge of PR matters has several published books on transport. We have a comprehensive workshop arrangement including two MoT Testing stations within the group, and have our own comprehensive breakdown and recovery operation with various types of recovery vehicles.
We work directly or indirectly for Essex County Council and The NHS/PTCs/Health Authorities on both vehicle operations and maintenance/Testing of ECC and VLS vehicles. We have in the past, been praised by VOSA for our maintenance recording system for our own vehicles.
On the operations side, we have been undertaking schools and Social Care contracts for Social Services and PCTs directly for 28 years, amounting to several million pounds worth of contracts. In that time, we have NEVER non-performed on any single journey, ever. We are confident, that we are one of the most reliable operators in the district.
We own our own fleet of vehicles with an average age of less than 7 years. All vehicles are in similar colour scheme and carry our corporate logo, with our brand well-known throughout the area. We regularly refresh and refurbish vehicles, doing our own complete rebuilds.
Included in our fleet, are a number of different types of wheelchair accessible vehicles, various seating configurations, taxis and minibuses up to 16 seats. Much of our fleet is air-conditioned. Vehicles are inspected daily, have service inspections every two weeks, and full service every month. Our vehicles are cleaned at least once a day, often twice, and drivers check and clean up on a regular basis in addition to our workshops regular cleaning schedule.
All our vehicles are licensed as either Hackney Carriages, or operate under a PSV Standard National Licence. We do not operate any “minicabs” All our drivers get CRB checked to Enhanced level. We now have a fleet equipped with Euro V low emission engines or later, and are now introducing Euro 6 vehicles. We have been examining the operation of electric powered and Hybrid engines and recently we have been driving and testing hydrogen fuel cell cars, in order to further reduce carbon emissions.
We have recently formed the core of our passenger transport operations into the new company Arrow Taxis (Essex) Limited.
We are the only operator in the Maldon District to offer a full 24-hour/ 7 day a week staffed control centre, where we can be contacted at any time. We have historically enjoyed good communication with EC Contract Management Staff, and our customers, and we believe this is enhanced by our willingness to go that little bit further on the occasions when it is needed. We have a range of ECC-trained escorts available, Blue and Purple badges. We also operate Bus services (including one of the only commercial DaRT services in the Country), for which in conjunction with ECC we were nominated and made the finals in both The National Transport Awards and UK Bus Awards in 2013.
Obviously, we have had odd complaints over the years, but have always managed to sort them out, usually to the satisfaction of all parties. Our handling system passes complaints directly to Senior Management if they cannot be rectified immediately by Control Centre staff.

We have a number of staff with First Aid Certificates. We operate a rolling programme in this regard, and are continually updating practices as found necessary by risk assessment.
